Biography

Piotr Andrzej Czubkowski was born in Warsaw in 1973 in the family with medical traditions of his mother and uncle. After graduation from Medical University in Warsaw in 1999, he started to work in The Children’s Memorial Health Institute, Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Immunology and currently, he hold the position of the senior assistant and consultant in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and transplantation. In 2009, he worked in Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Liver Unit (including intestinal transplantation), UK as Senior Clinical Fellow in paediatric hepatology covering rotation with consultants in paediatric hepatology. As a researcher, he is mostly devoted to biliary atresia, PFIC and liver transplantation. In 2002, he was granted a fellowship and spent 3 months performing genetic research on PFIC in San Francisco under supervision of Professor Laura Bull. His PhD dissertation “The analysis of risk factors in children with biliary atresia” was distincted in 2007. Currently, he works on Polish Biliary Atresia Registry and genetics in PFIC.
