My laboratory is conducting research in the field of Drug Discovery and Development. We are working with biopharmaceutical and biotech companies on the development of novel drugs against cancer and cardiac hypertrophy. In addition we are involved in design, development and validation of biological assays and instrumentation. I am also involved in research on Management of Biotech and Biopharmaceutical companies and in particular on issues related to funding strategies, innovations, product design and development.
I have been involved in providing lectures and marking students projects in Medical Biotechnology for undergraduate, MSc and MPhil students at the University of Abertay Dundee, MBA (biotechnology) students at Dundee Business School and in TUVarna (under the Socrates Erasmus teaching mobility scheme). I have been visiting professor and have delivered lectures in more than twenty universities in the USA, UK, China, Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey, Slovakia, Japan including Harvard Medical School, Cambridge University, Edinburgh University and others. I have been scientific supervisor of more than twenty undergraduate, MSc, MPhil and PhD students. More recently I have been invited speaker at the European Biotechnology Congress in Istanbul 2011, Bratislava 2013, Lecce (Italy) 2014 and member of the Organising Committee and speaker of the World Biotechnology Congress in Valencia 2014. I was also Chair of the Organising Committee of NGS-2014 Dundee Exomes, Genomes and Transcriptomes in Clinical Diagnostics and Circulating Biomarkers Conference 2014, Dundee.
